Community, Culture and Connection: Our values at Excello Law

At Excello Law, we know that working in a fee-share model does not have to mean working alone.  A thriving legal career, especially in a flexible environment, depends on a strong community and a culture that uplifts and supports you every step of the way.

As we support Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW), we are reflecting on how the people and environment around us, at work and in life, have a profound impact on our wellbeing. At Excello, we have built more than just a flexible platform. We have created a culture to be proud of.

Our Excello Inspires programme is a year-round series of events designed to bring our people together, professionally, personally, and holistically. From educational and practice led webinars & workshops to social events, it is how we build genuine relationships and meaningful support across our firm.

This week, we are putting that culture into action by hosting two Excello Community Brunches in our Chester and London offices. These relaxed gatherings offer everyone the opportunity to take a breather, de-stress, and connect with colleagues over some delicious brunch, demonstrating how much we value wellbeing, human connection, and time away from the desk.

Creating a positive, open culture is essential in our profession. Research by LawCare shows that 69% of legal professionals have experienced mental ill-health (such as anxiety or depression) in the past year, yet only 56% felt comfortable talking about it at work. These findings are a powerful reminder of why we must continue building workplaces where people feel safe, supported, and connected.

Our culture has become even more important this year as we expand internationally with the addition of three new offices overseas in Dubai, the US and Northern Ireland. As we step into global waters, we recognise that workplace cultures can differ across jurisdictions. That is why nurturing a unified, values-led environment is crucial. Embracing these differences while staying true to our core principles of collaboration, respect, and autonomy ensures we grow stronger together. Bringing together and interacting with our international colleagues will only enhance cohesion and elevate our cross-border legal delivery.

Here are five ways Excello’s strong sense of community and culture empower our legal teams to thrive:

  1.  Real Connection, Not Just Contact
Our dedicated Firm intranet, Excello Connect, and through initiatives like Coffee Roulette, our monthly community connection too, we provide ample opportunity for our lawyers to meet new people and build meaningful internal networks across the Firm
  2. Opportunities to Pause and Reconnect
Throughout the year, we host a range of community events, ranging from informal lunches to sporting events,  thoughtfully designed to encourage connection between colleagues and offer meaningful time away from the desk to support overall wellbeing.
  3. Celebrating Success Together
From personal milestones to team wins, we take pride in recognising the achievements of our legal team through our social media and our own dedicated intranet.
  4. A Safe Space to Talk About Mental Health
We encourage open conversations and alongside our wellbeing partners, MYNDUP, we encourage and educate on good mental wellbeing across all levels of the Firm.
  5. Global Growth & a Unified Culture
As we expand internationally, our shared culture keeps us cohesive, collaborative, and consistent in how we serve our clients.

At Excello, culture and community are integral to how we support our people and deliver exceptional legal services.
